I'm back

So it has almost been a year since my last post and honestly for a while I felt like I had nothing more to add to the blog. I've been hurt so often since the Disney Marathon back in January with tendonitis, runner's knee. turf toe, and other foot issues that while I continued to try to run; I wasn't really enjoying it. My passion was gone and I realized that I no longer had the passion to run just to be running. The past 6 weeks I've remained healthy and I rediscovered the love of running. I forgot how meditative running is for me and what it is like to have my brain slow down and focus on only one thing.

I'm not going to lie and say the road back is easy. I've been intentionally working to ease my way back into running because my legs and feet were not able to take the pounding at first, but I have been focused more on cross training this time around. I'm spending more time swimming, biking, and at the gym to try and prevent future injuries. I am going to make an effort to post more often as I work my way back into shape as a runner and set my sights on a sub 1:45 half marathon in November. You can follow my progress, leave comments, or just send positive thoughts; all are welcome.

Just remember “Think Easy, Light, Smooth, and Fast. You start with easy, because if that’s all you get, that’s not so bad. Then work on light. Make it effortless… When you’ve practiced that so long that you forget you’re practicing, you work on making it smooooooth. You won’t have to worry about the last one – you get those three, and you’ll be fast.” Born to Run

That was a good day
